LHS Baseball Informational Newsletter
- The purpose of this newsletter is to inform parents of important issues related to Baseball at LHS. It is the result of the coordinated efforts and input of the LHS coaching staff, players, and past and present parents of LHS Baseball Players.
- We would like parents and players to have ample time to examine and understand our procedures to save any misunderstanding as our season approaches.

Open Gyms and Camps
Tryouts (Grades 10 - 12)
- According to WIAA guidelines, we cannot begin tryouts until a specified date (March 19)
- Players are expected to attend the entire tryout period (usually 3 days).
- Criteria for making the team include: talent, attitude, aptitude, strength, and team needs.
- Unfortunately, we have to make cuts so tryouts are like a job interview. We keep those whom are the best candidates to keep us competitive.
Spring Break
- We do practice over Spring Break. It is our most important practice period of the Spring since we introduce the players to signs, situations, and specific team drills. Missing this time has a major impact on one's preparation for the entire season. For the 2007 season, individuals must attend tryouts over spring break for the opportunity to make the team.
Miscellaneous Needs
- The student cannot practice unless the following are up-to-date:
- * Physical/alternate year card
- * Signed Code of Conduct
- * Signed Insurance Card
-
- Since baseball relies a great deal on the sense of sight, we recommend that a student have an eye exam each year.
-
- We also recommend that the athlete write his name on his things (hat, glove, etc)
- We expect kids to be clean-shaven and meet our haircut policy when trying out/attending practice and games.
